ABOUT US....... 

       Stunning designs and simple elegance empower old world design. All lumber used at The IronHorse Artworks is taken from its raw state and handcrafted to make an individual structure that tells a story. Local lumber is bought, planed, cut, sanded, and assembled on premises. We also are a strong proponent of using recycled materials, vintage hardware, and refurbished structures to infuse old world inspiration.

    Meet the Artist.........
 
   
     My family moved to Orcas Island when I was just a girl. We soon settled in to raise horses and appreciate life off the beaten track. Our farm flourished over the years, and barns and pastures expanded out of our raw land to facilitate the spring foals and the growing herd.
 
     As a child raised on the island we found things to do in-between farming. My father was a wood worker and spent his afternoons in the woodshop. My brother and I watched with curiosity as the evenings crept in. A creative talent was kindled amongst the quiet evenings when we were let loose with our own projects with my father's watchful eye. Like my mother who helped raise barns from the lumber of the land, I too wished to create permanence - structures that told a story about life.
 
     I began small projects and over time they grew. Our hunger for more expensive materials took shape and we needed to find a way to support our "habit".  My mother began to sell our simple designs at Saturday Market along with her flowers and an interest was sparked. The summers that followed entailed keeping up with the demand. Over the years The IronHorse Artworks was born. We now offer these beautiful Adirondacks to the public through direct sales.
